Anyway, I've been wanting to go to Midnight Mercato for the longest time but somehow all the plans to go over there never seemed to work out. But one time when I was browsing Our Awesome Planet, and there was an entry on Guactruck--an adorable food truck that serves burrito bowls. Since I'd been craving a nice burrito for the longest time, I decided I just HAD to go. Thankfully, Icy was craving cheesesteak as well so we decided to head out there on one of those horrible rainy nights we kept having some weeks back. Getting wet was not at all fun, but the food more than made up for it.
Icy had cheesesteak from a stall whose name I can't remember, but I took a bite and find it really good. This may sound snooty, but I'm very particular with cheesesteak sandwiches because I had one in Philadelphia about five years ago from a little food market and it was the most amazing thing I've ever tasted.
I, however, made a beeline for Guactruck because that was the one thing I went all the way there for.
The truck is adorable, and the ladies manning it were really friendly. They even recognized me as the girl who kept tweeting about them!
They serve the food in a flower-shaped container that opens up as little paper plate/bowl. So cute, right?
Yummy! Although thinking back, I probably should have asked for more guacamole.
Happy tummy moment indeed!
Anyway, afterwards we went to get something from a Japanese place that sold barbecued cheese slices wrapped in beef and bacon-wrapped kani. So good! I had to bring some home for my mom and sisters. We also sampled the dukbokki from a Korean place, which was good but I preferred the ones I made myself. When I make dukbokki at home it's basically just the rice cakes and sauce that I can make as spicy as I want, so I'm partial.
After that, we had to get some dessert.
I was drawn to Merry Moo for their cute signage, and their unconventional flavors. They had Sea Salt Caramel and Earl Grey Tea, but I had to go for the very refreshing Strawberry Basil.
I've found that basil tastes really good in ice cream. More people should try that.
Anyway, we went home beyond stuffed although I wish we weren't because I so wanted to sample some more. Oh well, there's always next weekend!
