These are old photos but I never found the time (or the motivation) to put it up. Back when we were in DC, we visited the Smithsonian. Now, I love museums--the whole thing about exploring the history of the world is just seriously interesting to me--but the one section that I really enjoyed was the gems and jewelry from all over the world.

Now, here is the famous Hope Diamond. The story behind this gem is one of my favorites, just because it's passed hands so often and I like thinking about how huge it must have been before it was cut into the size it is today. Read about the Hope Diamond
