Bejeweled at the Smithsonian

These are old photos but I never found the time (or the motivation) to put it up. Back when we were in DC, we visited the Smithsonian. Now, I love museums--the whole thing about exploring the history of the world is just seriously interesting to me--but the one section that I really enjoyed was the gems and jewelry from all over the world.

What girl wouldn't drool over a diamond necklace, seriously?

Now, here is the famous Hope Diamond. The story behind this gem is one of my favorites, just because it's passed hands so often and I like thinking about how huge it must have been before it was cut into the size it is today. Read about the Hope Diamond here.
